Have a broken electric toothbrush, vacuum cleaner, air fryer, or even an electric powerwasher in need of recycling? ElectroRecycle will be hosting collection booths at the West End and Kitsilano Farmers Markets for two final weekends this summer! Easily recycle over 400 types of small appliances, power tools, and electric yard equipment for FREE at our booths.

ElectroRecycle has been partnering with Vancouver Farmer’s Markets since 2015, offering regular recycling days at the markets. Over the past nine years, ElectroRecycle has collected more than 23,500 lbs of small appliances and power tools from market shoppers!

Important Update: Due to a merger between provincial recycling programs, this will be the final year ElectroRecycle will be at the farmer’s markets. Be sure to mark ElectroRecycle’s collection booth dates in your calendar to participate!

Find a full list of accepted items on our website here. Additionally, here are some other useful recycling tips:

  1. Batteries: If your small appliance has batteries that are difficult to remove, they can be left inside the device. To recycle other loose batteries, find a battery recycling location near you at Call2Recycle.ca. Loose batteries will not be accepted at our market booths.
  2. Electronics: TVs and computer electronics are not accepted through the ElectroRecycle program – these items are managed by a different Provincial recycling program.
  3. Other Recycling Locations: ElectroRecycle partners with more than 200 depots across BC to collect small appliances and power tools. If you can’t make it to the West End or Kitsilano Markets on the dates listed below, click here to find a location near you.
  4. Usable Condition: It’s important to note that the collected items will be broken down and recycled into raw materials (glass, metal, plastic) to make new items. So, if you have a product in working condition, we encourage you to donate it before recycling it. Giving your small appliances to thrift stores like the Salvation Army, or posting items online for free are great options to give your product a second life.

Heads-up: ElectroRecycle will only be accepting small appliances and power tools. So, please recycle your computers, TVs, printers, and audio equipment elsewhere. Also, fuel-powered products will not be accepted.

Don’t miss out on this final opportunity to recycle your small appliances and power tools at the farmers markets. Let’s make this final year of market recycling booths a record one!
